I quickly got over my aversion, you have to in the parenting world. Being a parent lets you draw on strength from a higher place. You realize that your own dislike for a certain bodily function is nothing compared to the look of panic and fear in your child's eyes. My hands, my bed sheets, my shoulder all became the vomit bucket.
Day two in the sick ward meant sleep-deprived parents from a rough night with E, plus the added excitement of a second sick kiddo. My super Mads, completely vomit free since the day she was born, ended her record at 4 years and 3 months. I thought it was hard handling E, so small she still can't fully articulate her feelings. I had no idea how much worse it would be hearing Mads cry and beg for me to free her from her own body. Poor honey...
And although I hate it that they're sick, a part of me kind of loves it. They're still, they're snuggley, and they're quiet. My girls are always so busy, I have actually enjoyed being stranded on our couches. My heart swells with love when I look at one hot-headed beauty asleep on my lap and the other one on my shoulder. I'm sick of Bubble Guppies and Sofia the First, but I'm not sick of the down time with these two crazies.
God has blessed my family with good health. Times like these remind me of how much I take the for granted. The Lord has also shown me that even though taking care of sickies can be stinky gooey work, it has it's perks too.
