To Close or Not To Close... That is the Question

I’m extremely behind on my blogging.  The kids have been cute, we’ve done some fun things and I have nothing to say about it… why… because I’m ALL CONSUMED WITH SELLING OUR HOUSE!!!

The craze started gradually, and then one day it hit me.  A friend posted a picture of the view from her new porch and I was hooked.  I wanted that! The hubs got on board easily enough and then we were off.  The next few weeks were a blur of decluttering, depersonalizing, staging and repairing.  Justin and I only spoke in incoherent fragments as our heads hit the pillows.  Playing tea party was a thing of the past; I spent my time rearranging throw pillows.  Even the haunting words of my four year old couldn’t douse my flame, “Mommy you never play anymore, all you do is clean”.

Our insanity was rewarded and after a short 16 days on the market we had our first offer.  Once we were under contract, we couldn’t have been happier to resume our normal “messy” lifestyle.  Toys were left out, beds weren’t made, and the McDonald’s worker didn’t know us by name.  Life was good.

Fast-forward a few weeks and everything changed.  Closing woes have us wondering if it was all for nothing.  I hassle our poor agent daily (sometimes hourly) for updates on a never-changing situation.  Instead of packing and movin on up, we could be movin back on the market.

I spent the past couple of weeks freaking out and bugging anyone who would listen.  Then I decided to choose contentment.  We were happy before I brought this on my family and we will be happy after.  Our family is so much more than the house that we live in.  We can squeal, play dress up, and bake cookies anywhere.

We want to move.  We’re ready for the new adventure, but if I spend all of my time stressing out about the future I’ll miss the amazing things that are happening right in front of me.  Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, it is well; it is well with my soul!
